It’s only a few short weeks until Kansas Reads to Preschoolers…featuring Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Hiawatha, Kansas children’s book author Bill Martin, Jr.
The event is the week before Thanksgiving, November 13-19, 2011.
This year, Kansas Reads to Preschoolers commemorates the 150th anniversary of Kansas statehood as well as early literacy by featuring the classic alphabet book by one of our state’s best known and most beloved children’s book authors – the late Bill Martin, Jr., with John Archambault and illustrated by Lois Ehlert.
For information about how your library can participate in this project of the Kansas Center for the Book at the State Library, visit the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Web page for promotional materials, author biographies, activity ideas, Read-alikes and much, much more. Join the fun in promoting early literacy and a life-long love of learning and libraries!
Morrill Public Library is hosting the state-wide kickoff event for Kansas Reads to Preschoolers on November 14 at 10 a.m. First Lady Mary Brownback will be on hand to read to the children and help celebrate Hiawatha’s beloved author.
Have fun climbing up the coconut tree!
