System Newsletters

NEKLS News & Notes,  is posted each month to the NEKLS website for staff, trustees, and friends of member libraries. Its purpose is to keep everyone informed of system activities, to provide notices and information of special interest to members, and to offer an forum for sharing ideas. Each issue is announced in a blog post at www.nekls.org and in messages sent to our nekls-l and trustee e-mail list members.

The lastest edition of NEKLS News & Notes can be viewed electronically – with live links – at www.nekls.org/newsletter. A pdf of each edition is also available for those who prefer a print version. Members are encouraged to submit articles and photos for publication in the newsletter.

School Librarians’ Connection is a biannual newsletter focused on issues of special interest to school librarians. The newsletter is distributed in the spring and fall each year in an effort to provide better communication between NEKLS and school members. It also offers an opportunity for school librarians to connect with others with common interests and challenges in their profession. Please contact Mickey Coalwell (mcoalwell@nekls.org) with any information you would like to have included in an upcoming issue.

The School Librarian’s Newsletter will be available online at http://www.nekls.org/news.html and posted on the Currency weblog at http://currency.nekls.org.

Electronic Mailing Lists

NEKLS provides several email discussion lists to enable rapid communication among system members. These lists facilitate communication among various segments of the NEKLS community. NEKLS staff use the lists to inform members about training opportunities, legislation impacting libraries, and other relevant issues. List members post messages to fellow subscribers on topics of mutual interest, including reference inquiries and material give-aways. The State Library of Kansas also sponsors electronic mailing lists to facilitate communication in the library community. KANLIB-L deals with issues of interest to Kansas librarians including meeting announcements, internet resources, the Kansas Library Catalog, online databases, ERATE, microcomputer labs, and OPACs. NEKLS Member Directories

Both print and online directories of NEKLS member libraries are available at http://www.nekls.org/member-directories/.

Listings include library addresses, hours of operation, phone and fax numbers, websites, and library directors with their e-mail addresses.
