Have you heard the commentaries by Cheryl Unruh on Kansas Public Radio? She makes observations that call to mind memories of small towns in Kansas. Today Cheryl is releasing her book, Flyover People, a compilation of 80 essays previously published in The Emporia Gazette. As reviewed by Dave Kendall, host of Sunflower Journeys, “She (Cheryl) becomes most reverential and lyrical as she contemplates the beauty of a prairie sunset or the inspirational nature of a drive across the open range. Read this book slowly as you would sip your favorite beverage and savor the taste.” Cheryl will sign her book at Town Crier Bookstore, 716 Commercial, Emporia from 5 to 7 pm, September 1 and at Southwind Gallery, 3074 Southwest 29th St., Topeka on September 15 from 3 to 6 pm.
If you want to read some of Cheryl’s essays on-line, visit her website, www.flyoverpeople.net and “savor the taste” there as well. Enjoy the galleries of photographs by Dave Leiker and browse his page of scenic Kansas photos to use as wallpaper on your computers.
