Watch for the new “Libraries that Rock” series from BCR – featuring libraries that are doing innovative things. The first presentation of this series – Rocking the Sandbox : Big Ideas From a Little Library, will be held on February 26th from 11:00 – Noon (central time zone).  Kieran Hixon from the John C. Fremont Library in Florence Colorado will highlight what his library has done for Ready reference, PC reservations, online reference, blogging, social media, wikis and more.   During the presentation, he will reveal what works and what hasn’t in this small library’s effort to make big things happen on a shoestring. Kieran is a known open source innovator, so I’m very interested to hear his presentation. The session is free, but be sure to register as space is limited.

Future presentations in the Libraries that Rock series will include:

  • March 26th, Anne Layton Rice will discuss how the Florida Keys are using free tools to make a big splash in their public libraries
  • April 2, find out what Vermillion, Kansas is up to.

If your library has put innovative ideas into action and would like the opportunity to show others what you have done, let BCR know.  They just might feature you in a future Libraries that Rock session!
