Library Camp Kansas is four weeks away, and will be held on Friday, July 15 at the K-State Hale Library in Manhattan, KS.

Are you registered yet? There’s still time and space for you to join us! Did we mention the event is free? You just have to get to Manhattan!

The registration form.

Anyone want to share in the comments why previous Library Camps or other unconferences you’ve attended are great experiences and full of new ideas and inspiration?

If you have no idea what a Library Camp or an Unconference is, check out the original invite sent out in April and checkout out the Library Camp Kansas website.

We hope you can join us in Manhattan!

Original Invitation

Marshmallows? Sleeping bags? Campfire songs? What is this??

While you’re welcome to bring some marshmallows, there won’t be any open flames at the Library Camp Kansas 2011…just a bonfire’s worth of ideas, discussions and networking. Library Camps, or unconferences, are informal, participant-driven meetings open to all types of libraries and librarians.

Hale Library at Kansas State University has graciously agreed to host the unconference this year on Friday, July 15. Mark your calendars, put in your travel requests, and do what you must to join us in Manhattan.

The unconference planning committee has been throwing out ideas for topics, including eBooks in libraries, QR codes, using technology in advocacy and programming and Heather suggested some philosophical discussions around the new R. David Lankes’ new book “Atlas of New Librarianship” and/or “In Pursuit of Elegance” by Matthew Mays. The full discussion is on our wiki.

Feel free to sign up and join the discussion…that’s what unconferences are all about.

We also have a new Facebook page, if you want to “Like” us and follow the discussion that way.

Registration is open (thank you Erin).

We look forward to seeing you at Camp this summer!
