Welcome to the inaugural Links and a Latte post! I’ll be using this posting series to share 4-5 links of interest that can be quickly consumed over a quick break. This explanation by a federal judge is one of the simplest ones I’ve seen — and he goes back to the 1700s to do so! “Suppose that a Colonist erects a bulletin board in the front yard of his home to post announcements that might be of interest to others and other Colonists do the same…”
- All about SOPA the Bill that Wants to Cripple Your Internet Very Soon [Lifehacker]: An overview of the proposed Stop Online Privacy Act that is before Congress.
- Makers in Libraries [Lybrarian]: Library Innovation, Library as a Maker Space, and more from our own Sharon Moreland!
- Beyond the Bullet Points: Expect More [Virtual Dave]: A thought-provoking post on library innovation needing to become the norm from the 2012 KLA Conference Keynote Speaker, David Lankes. “We must expect more of ourselves. No more worker bees….”
- Pinterest: A Beginner’s Guide to the Hot New Social Network [Mashable]: Looking for bulletin board ideas, book displays, recipes, decorations, organization tips, and countless other visual ideas? Check out the Pinterest social network. The linked post from Mashable gives a great overview of the site. There’s even a Library and Information Science group board. [I do have invites available if you are interested in setting up an account]
That’s it for the inaugural Links and a Latte post! What are you reading online? Share it in the comments.
