Congratulations Lawrence Public Library!
On Sunday, November 15th, I attended an open house to celebrate the grand opening of the new community computer lab at Lawrence Public Library. The new lab houses 12 computer stations, bringing the total number of library public access computers to 62. Sunflower Broadband provided funds for the construction and lab furnishings, while the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation provided a grant for the new computers and software.
“The computer lab is an exciting addition to the library,” said Library Director Bruce Flanders. “The additional computers and workspace represent a meaningful upgrade to the services we’re able to provide.”
Adult Services Coordinator Lynn Koenig outlined plans for an extensive technology training program to be hosted in the new lab. Community response has already been enthusiastic, with registration slots for the classes being quickly filled.
The lab is located in the lower level of the library, at 707 Vermont Street, in Lawrence. Stop by and visit soon!
