New Titles at NEKLS

The NEKLS Professional Collection will soon be infused with new titles.  Each year, we set aside funds in the Materials budget to purchase books requested by member libraries, along with titles selected through good, old-fashioned collection development.  Including dozens of die cuts for the Ellison machine, we have added 146 items to the collection so far this year. The collection has a mix of resources for public, school and academic librarians, including training materials such as the FISH and Give ‘em the Pickle videos.

Each member library has a NExpress card that can be used to put any item in this collection on hold, including restricted items.  Of course, most of the collection is open to anyone with a NExpress card.  Give us a call if you need a refresher on how to use your library’s NExpress account.

As you look through the NExpress Shared Catalog at books labeled “Professional Collection” you may notice that along with Atchison, Tonganoxie and Ottawa, the Linwood Community Library has a robust collection.  According to Director Sue Peavy, Linwood receives donations from a local patron who works as an editor for the Libraries Unlimited publishing house.  Whatever titles she feels are outside the scope of her collection, she send on to NEKLS for ours.

As you find books that you feel would benefit your colleagues, please share them with us!
