Friday, August 1 at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (8:30 a.m. registration).

Keynote from Michael Porter, Interactive Strategy Manager at WebJunction, and known to his blog readers as Libraryman (www.libraryman.com).  Have fun effectively responding to gadgets and ubiquitious technology in culture and libraries.

Bring your favorite gadget.  Do you have an iPhone, PDA, mobile phone, GPS, Chumby, iPod or other hand-held bit of technology that you can’t seem to live without?  What impact has it had on your life?  What do you think the potential is for libraries and their users?  We will discuss this with a panel after the keynote and then hear about exciting new developments at the State Library.

Other topics up for discussion in break out sessions include gaming, Macs in the library, IM reference, and MaintainIT with guest speakers Thatcher Rea, Patti Butcher, David Lee King, Eric Gustafson, Royce Kitts, Erin Downey Howerton, Brenda Hough, Joshua M. Neff, and others.

Cost:  $20 for NEKLS members and $40 for non-members
Audience: public, school and academic librarians with an interest in technology
Registration:  Event Registration Online!
