NEKLS Tech Day 2007 will be held in Topeka.

Keynote Speaker: Mary Madden
Title and Short Description:”Teens, Libraries and Web 2.0: Snapshots from a new media landscape”
Mary will present recent Pew Internet Project research that examines
technology use by teenagers and suggests how the behavior and
expectations of young internet users might shape the libraries of the
future.

Here’s a short bio:
Mary is a Senior Research Specialist with the Pew Internet & American
Life Project in Washington, D.C. She has worked with Pew since the
spring of 2002, and has covered a wide range of research areas during
that time. Her current research interests include: music and the
internet, intellectual property issues online, teens and communication
choices, college students and the internet, online communities, and
demographic trends in online pursuits. She recently co-authored a report
on teenagers’ use of social networking websites, and is currently
working on a report that examines trends in teen content creation and
the adoption of Web 2.0 applications. She holds an M.A. in
Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University and a
B.A. in English from The University of Florida.
