Reinventing & Re-Envisioning Storytime In A Pandemic World

March 17 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Even when this pandemic ends, experts predict that virtual programming will still be in demand by busy parents and homebound kids. This calls for reinventing and re-envisioning storytime to meet patron needs in this new virtual world! Please have a couple of scarves or tissues (or socks, or paper towels…) on hand for this session.

In this highly interactive virtual workshop, we will explore:

    • best practices for delivering effective virtual programming
    • ways to help parents recreate the techniques at home with their children
    • effective techniques for sharing picturebooks and stories
    • copyright considerations for virtual storytimes

Our presenter is Sherry Norfolk, internationally acclaimed performer, consultant, teaching artist, workshop leader, and keynote speaker. Sherry says, “I’ve been doing nothing but online programming since March 18 (2020), working with schools, libraries, festivals and conferences to deliver storytimes, professional development workshops, student residencies and performances — and I’ve learned a lot! I’m ready to share my hard-earned experience with (Kansas) children’s librarians.”

We intend to make a recording of this session available after the event.
