She was the first British autistic women to address the UN on rights in 2014. In 2021\, her book\, Safeguarding Autistic Girls\, was distributed to all UK police forces to use. \n\n\n\nCarly was awarded an MBE for her services to the autistic community in 2017 and recognized with a honorary doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University in 2022. \n\n\n\nDuring the interview\, Carly will share her experience of how homelessness and autism intersect after previously being homeless as a teenage mother.

She trains library staff all over the world on how to match books with readers through the local public library. She runs the critically acclaimed RA training blog RA for All. She is under contract to provide content for EBSCO’s NoveList database and writes reviews for Booklist and a horror review column for Library Journal.   \n\n\n\nKnown for her work with horror readers\, Becky is the author of The Reader’s Advisory Guide to Horror\, Third Edition [ALA Editions\, 2021]. She is on the Shirley Jackson Award Advisory Board and is a proud member of the Horror Writers Association and currently serves as the Association’s Secretary and organizer of their annual Librarians’ Day. Nicole Proulx Aiken\, who provided KOMA training in 2023\, will lead this presentation\, and be able to field questions about KORA compliance for public libraries. Registration is limited\, one participant per library – NEKLS is subsidizing up to 14 spots for our member public libraries.
