NEKLS is happy to announce the addition of Shelley O’Brien to our staff as a Fundraising and Public Relations Consultant. Shelley grew up in the Kansas City area and attended KU for undergrad. For the past 15 years she has been fundraising in Washington D.C. for national organizations such as Center on Budget and the National Recreation and Park Association. The last two years she was the Director of Development for the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System in Maryland. In addition, Shelley is planning to graduate from San Jose State University with her MLIS degree in December. Here is more from Shelley in her own words:

I’m excited to be back in Kansas! I’ve always considered it home. I look forward to working with you and your library on many wonderful projects and educational sessions. In my spare time you can find me reading (usually historical fiction and biographies), running after my Wheaton Terrier named Henry, keeping up on pop culture (all things on Bravo), and checking out a new restaurant.
