Intellectual Freedom

Intellectual freedom is the right of every individual to both seek and receive information from all points of view without restriction. It provides for free access to all expressions of ideas through which any and all sides of a question, cause or movement may be explored. – American Library Association

Libraries provide access to the ideas and information that allow individuals to explore and inform themselves.

Member libraries seeking additional information on intellectual freedom, requests for materials reconsideration, and/or censorship are encouraged to explore the Online Learning resource offered by NEKLS.

In addition, please contact one of the NEKLS consultants for assistance and sharing of information.
