The Legislative Study Committee that is studying the Kan-ed service has reportedly received the outline of a plan that would is reported to  “…essentially merge the Kan-ed and KanREN broadband networks and create a sliding-scale payment structure that could mean new connectivity fees for libraries, hospitals and other users of the Kan-ed network.”

It is also reported that the plan suggests that approximately 6% of Kan-ed members use the Kan-ed Internet service so seldom that they could readily be disconnected from the service.
